What is Gender?
“TISSUE” is a project that aims to challenge the mainstream ideology regarding gender. Gender is often considered to be binary in many cultures. However, we believed that the binary category is actually ignoring the enormous complexity of human beings. Therefore, as a group of LGBTQ and supporting allies, we would like to build an art project, challenging the socially constructed gender categories and stigmas through connecting social tissue with biological tissue.

We are designing a set of objects which the user can use to interact with diverse natural habitats, which we call the TransSpecies Radio. The radio creates an audio-visual experience based on real time audio data transmitted from remote natural habitats such as La Camargue, the Amazon, and Australia. The sounds of the ocean, birds, forests, frogs, bees, will be played together in harmony on the radio.
There is a space for the human to participate in the co-creation of the experience by adding an equal input. This project intends to collaborate with existing scientific communities and NGOs for data collection.
